Ted graduated from UBC with a B.Comm in 1987 and was then hired as a Trainee with Guardian Insurance in Vancouver. After his training, he went into Personal Lines and worked his way up to Personal Lines Manager. During that time, he attained his CIP accreditation. After 2 years as Personal Lines Manager, Ted had a stint as Marketing Manager, and then moved over to the Commercial department as a Senior Underwriter.
In 1998, ING purchased Guardian and Ted continued on the Commercial underwriting side, eventually becoming Commercial Lines Manager. In 2009, ING became Intact Insurance, and Ted took on the new role of Regional Business Development Manager at the Vancouver office.
